The Real
'Every Man's Battle' As a licensed psychologist for the past 19 years, I’ve had the opportunity to interview thousands of men who have come to see me for a variety of issues ranging from depression to marital conflicts to sexual addiction and many others. But without exception, I’ve found that at the end of the day, one core issue lies at the heart of every man’s struggle. Fear. It shows up in every day life. Preying on every area of our lives. • It derails our careers by forcing us to 'play it safe'. • It lowers productivity and fosters procrastination. • It paralyzes our parenting because we doubt our skillfulness. • It shuts down any real transparency with others for fear of looking weak. • It traps us in the stands convincing us it's safer to be a spectator than risk failing in the arena. • It steals our true "yes" and our true "no" just so we can avoid conflict with others. • It tethers us to our phones because we're terrified of what we'll feel in the silence. Like many of us, we live most of our lives in survival mode with a few simple pleasures. No wonder we're depressed, anxious, and disconnected from others, ourselves and God. But we were meant for more than this. So much more. From the Sidelines to the Arena I was in survival mode too, without even realizing it. The subtle fears we face are often imperceptible, making it easy for behaviors like avoidance, addiction, and passivity to become our "normal." Through conversations with those closest to me, I started realizing how much fear was robbing my life, and not just mine, but almost every man I knew. This is when I began working on The Man Seminar. Setting the Captives Free The model is built on four components: 1. My clinical training in the neurobiology of fear. 2. Data gathered from years of counseling thousands of men. 3. The spiritual disciplines of prayer, meditation, and Scripture. 4. A supportive and structured environment where we use carefully designed questions and exercises to help you move from theory to action. And we do this in-person, face-to- face and shoulder-to-shoulder. There is a specific, critical power in being together that simply cannot be replicated on a screen. The Man Seminar is changing the lives of men all over the Twin Cities. Join me on this journey and take the next step. It's your time. TM |
